The physical movements you make while playing golf are very different than your everyday activities. This means that unless you golf very frequently, using TPI-certified physical therapy to help correct issues, your body won’t be used to the movements, and it may rarely result in pain or injury.
Possible injuries that may be seen in amateur and professional golfers alike:
Consider wanting to enhance your golf swing, whether experiencing an injury or not, and grappling with back pain impacting your rotation. A trainer might suggest exercises or tips to strengthen or alleviate your back muscles.
Yet, the root cause may not reside in your back. It could stem from various issues with your hips or even your feet. Persisting with those exercises without improvement might lead to playing with persistent pain, hindering you from realizing your full golfing potential.
Accurate diagnosis, pain reduction, injury recovery, and form improvement require a physical therapist with specialized knowledge in how the body functions during golf. Listening Hands Physical Therapy stands out as one of the few major physical therapy clinic series in New Jersey providing an injury and performance golf program. Our physical therapists are certified by the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). Our committed healthcare professionals collaborate with you to enhance your physical mechanics for golf, whether addressing injury recovery, alleviating golf-related pain, or optimizing your overall potential.
The TPI Medical Certification specifically equips medical professionals with golf-related injury assessment and rehabilitation techniques. TPI’s expertise in the Body-Swing Connection™, acquired over nearly two decades, uniquely positions them to address golf swing-related injuries comprehensively. Medical Certification delves into injury development, assessment, treatment, and the improvement of performance by addressing specific physical limitations.
Golfers, whether in the developmental stages or professionals seeking pain relief affecting their performance, exhibit diverse swing patterns. Despite these differences, every swing follows a consistent kinematic sequence of muscle and body movements. With TPI certification, our physical therapists can ensure optimal body movement for individuals at any skill level, helping them extract maximum performance from their swing.
Listening Hands Physical Therapy provides a personalized TPI Golf Swing Enhancement Evaluation for golfers of all ages and skill levels. In this 90-minute session, potential alignment dysfunctions, muscle imbalances, and other limitations affecting the golf game are assessed. A 16-point functional movement screen evaluates mobility, stability, core strength, and balance, directly correlating with 12 major golf swing characteristics.
The treatment includes manual interventions and functional exercises aimed at reducing pain and enhancing ability. A personalized home exercise program focuses on improving flexibility, strength, balance, and overall performance.
Subsequent 60-minute follow-up visits are scheduled based on individual plans and goals. These visits involve reassessing the 16-point functional movement screen, updating the home exercise program, and conducting manual interventions to expedite the process of pain reduction and performance improvement.
